Problem med HD4850 drivers

Har efter lång tid äntligen orkat maila ATI och fråga vad som kan vara problemet med mina drivrutiner som efter omstart/avstängning verkar försvinna, eller iaf avaktiveras.
Jag är inte förvånad om lösningen finns någonstans i svaret, men det är ganska mycket, och jag skulle uppskatta om någon skulle kunna minska arbetsinsatsen från min sida genom att säga vad man kan skippa/testa för andra saker :)

The drivers should not have to be reinstalled on reboot, you either have corrupt drivers installed or a corrupt operating system.

Remove any hardware, internal and external not necessary for testing the specific software. Extra disc drives, external devices such as printers and external drives, etc.

Check the in-game settings:
Most games have settings that allow control of the resolution and level of detail that is displayed, as well as the quality of the audio. Check the information that came with the game to find out how to use those settings to optimize the game for your computer's hardware.

Empty the Windows temporary folder, follow these steps:

• Click Start, click Run, type %temp% in the Open box, and then
click OK.
• On the Edit menu, click Select All.
• On the File menu, click Delete.
• Click Yes when prompted with a message: “Are you sure you
want to send these items to the Recycle Bin?”


Restart the computer by using a clean boot procedure:

Note: temporary loss of some services functionality will be experienced when the following steps are applied. Restoring the settings restores the functionality, but may result in the return of the original error message or behavior.

• Click Start, and then click Run.
• Type “Msconfig” (without Quotes)
• Click OK On the General tab.
• Click Selective Startup.
• Under Startup tab, click to clear "Load Startup Items"
• On the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft
Services check box, and then click Disable All.
• Click OK, and then click Restart. Test the computer


Disable a file or service using the System Configuration Utility
• Click Start, and then click Run.
• Type “Msconfig” (without Quotes), Click OK.
• Click Selective Startup and clear the Load System Services
check box.
• Click OK.
• Restart the computer, and see if the problem persists.


Try the video card in another computer or another video card in the affected computer. If the problem follows the card exchange/warranty/replace.

Allt i det mailet är i stort sett standardförfarande för att utesluta att problemet ligger hos 3:e-part. Du söker support hos en leverantör, han eller hon kommer bara ge dig support på just din produkt och drivrutinerna som hör till. Visst kan du hoppa över att tömma temp-katalogen ... Men resten som handlar om att ta bort drivrutiner, service's, program och hårdvara som kan störa är något du bör överväga om du ska ha fortsatt support av leverantören.

Jo, jag vet, men om någon haft liknande problem, och haft en lösning, så hade jag ju inte behövt göra allt detta :)

Du anar inte hur många problem vi löste när jag satt på Microsoft-supporten genom att be användaren stänga av alla 3e-partservice's och plocka bort drivrutiner på servrar för joystick's ;)
